Footprints for Change campaigns to get historically excluded folks out in Nature. Utilizing her intersecting identities, Black, female, lesbian, and a backpacker with a disability, Crystal Gail Welcome is diversifying the outdoors so that more people see themselves reflected in Nature.  Footprints for Change believes that in Nature, our perspectives shift, and we begin to realize that the parts of ourselves that we judge—ever so harshly—may be understandable, even acceptable.

Nature should be accessible to all, and while the notion that everyone can explore and engage meaningfully with the outdoors is admirable, it’s far from reality for many people. The goal of Footprints for Change is to allow others, through visibility and representation, to foster a positive relationship with the natural world — peacefully and free from barriers.
